Letter from the Superintendent – In Celebration of Veterans Day

The following message was sent by Superintendent Bill Barnes to the HCPSS community on Nov. 11, 2024:

Today, we thank and honor all those who served honorably in the military – whether in times of conflict or peace. These individuals make great sacrifices so that we can have the freedoms and opportunities that we enjoy each day. Being able to vote in the recent election is a great example of this freedom.

Howard County is home to a diverse community that includes active duty, guard, reserve, and veteran armed services members and their children, many of whom are students in our system.

On behalf of the school system, I want to say ‘thank you’ to the military veterans and their family members in our community. I commend your willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
