End of Year Message from the Acting Superintendent

June 14th, 2024

The following message was shared with HCPSS families by HCPSS Acting Superintendent William J. Barnes on June 14, 2024.

As the 2023-2024 school year ends, I want to wish you and your families a safe and healthy summer.

I commend you for all you have done to help your child grow and learn this school year. As I shared at high school graduations, our students were met with many challenges this year, but they persevered due to their grit and determination. These are characteristics that will suit them well in their academic journey and beyond.

My team of dedicated staff and I are looking forward to making a great deal of progress over the summer to prepare our system and set up our students for success when we return in the fall. My expectations and goals are set high for next school year, and I am looking forward to the continued advancements and accomplishments we will make together as one community prioritizing student success.

Over the summer, I ask that you check in on one another in your communities and share valuable resources like the HCPSS 2024 Free Summer Meal Program. The inclusive nature of our community is an asset so I hope you will look out for your neighbors who may not have as many resources for themselves and their children.

Please take care of yourself this summer and know that I am eager to welcome our students and families back in the fall to continue the great work we’ve started together.
