April 8, 2024 Solar Eclipse Information and Safety Tips

A partial solar eclipse will take place Monday, April 8. In Howard County, the eclipse will occur from approximately 2:00-4:35 p.m., with maximum coverage at 3:21 p.m. During the eclipse, there will be 88% coverage during which it will get darker outside but not total darkness.

All HCPSS schools dismiss at some point during the eclipse period. Parents/guardians and students should be aware of the following safety tips:
