HCPSSHCPSS Seeks Members for School Health Council

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) is seeking community members to join the Howard County School Health Council. The Council promotes coordinated school health policies and programs to enhance academic achievement, health and wellness of all students by advising the Superintendent, the Health Officer, the Board of Education, the Board of Health and the County Council in the development, implementation, and assessment of comprehensive school health policies and programs. The group also provides a forum for the community to learn about and provide input on school health/wellness initiatives and submits annual feedback to the Board of Education on the implementation of Policy 9090 Wellness Through Nutrition and Physical Activity.
The first Council meeting for the 2023-2024 School Year will be September 27 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Heroes Room at the Howard County Health Department, located at 8930 Stanford BLVD, Columbia, MD. (Note: the meeting was previously scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Applications and Research Lab (ARL) room B8.) Registered attendees can also opt to attend the meeting virtually and will receive the virtual meeting link closer to the event date.
