Maryland State Department of Education Releases 2022 School Report Cards

March 9th, 2023

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) today released its 2022 Maryland School Report Card, containing data about all schools in the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) and across the state of Maryland.

Each School Report Card provides a snapshot of how a school is performing based on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) academic indicators and school quality measures. Report Cards include data on academic achievement, rate of chronic absenteeism, access/completion of a well-rounded curriculum, Maryland School Survey results, college and career readiness indicators, and 2020-21 graduation rates for high schools. Star ratings and School Report Cards were not produced in 2020 or 2021 due to gaps in measurements from the COVID-19 pandemic.

HCPSS educators leverage the data provided in the reports to inform instruction and school improvement plans and identify supports needed to help students thrive in the classroom.

School reports are posted on the Maryland Report Card website. Additional information on ESSA is provided on the HCPSS website
