Apply for Student Member of the Board of Education by February 6, 2020

January 14th, 2020

Each year, one student represents the student voice as a member on the Board of Education. HCPSS grants the Student Member of the Board full status as a board member and can vote on all issues except issues pertaining to budget, personnel, or other restricted matters.

Any current sophomore or junior in Howard County may apply for this position. The student must be regularly enrolled in an HCPSS high school and academically eligible. A student delegate convention will convene on February 18 to interview qualified applicants and nominate the final two candidates who will run for the Student Member position. The election will be held April 22 in all HCPSS middle and high schools.

Students who wish to be considered for this position must submit a completed application by 4 p.m., Thursday, February 6.

Details about the role and responsibilities of the SMOB, as well as the application and election process, are outlined in the application packet.
