Howard County G/T Parent Academy: Navigating the College Admissions Process, November 8, 2018

October 22nd, 2018

Thursday, November 8, 7–8:30 p.m. – Mt. Hebron High School Auditorium, 9440 Old Frederick Road, Ellicott City

This free G/T Parent Academy, presented by Johns Hopkins University Admissions Officer Joy Scalabrin, is open to all parents who are interested in attending. Preparing for the college application and admissions process can be a really exciting time for students—a time to explore their interests, think about their future and begin to take ownership of their life plans. It can also be a stressful time not just for them but their entire families. In this session, attendees will discover how to prioritize the things that can best impact the process, focusing conversations and energy on the things that matter most. Presenters will review important steps for preparation, key conversations to have as a family and the best ways to prepare for the outcomes.

Ms. Scalabrin is an HCPSS alumna. She is an admissions officer with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Johns Hopkins University, serving the Maryland and D.C. region. She also is involved in the recruitment and selection of first-year and transfer students to the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and Whiting School of Engineering.
