Community Advisory Council Seeks New Executive Committee Members

March 19th, 2018

The Community Advisory Council (CAC) is seeking new leadership volunteers to serve on its Executive Committee for the 2018–2019 school year. Membership is open to anyone interested in learning about and providing community input to the Howard County Board of Education and HCPSS administration.

The CAC provides feedback, insight, and community views to the Howard County Board of Education. It is seeking nominations for chair, first vice chair, second vice chair, secretary and policy committee chair.

Executive Committee members objectively and impartially represent and share broad-based majority and minority opinion on issues such as the school-year calendar, policies under review, and budgeting. Successful candidates should be reliable, able to lead substantive discussions, and comfortable with public speaking.

Membership is an opportunity to influence and provide thoughtful, considered input on educational policies and matters. Each school is allotted one CAC representative or a person may serve as an independent, at-large member. Members are expected to attend monthly meetings, at which the CAC hosts speakers on various education topics throughout the school year. The next meeting is Wednesday, April 4, at 7 p.m.

If you are interested in serving in any of the above roles, please contact the nominating committee at hcpsscacnominatingcommittee@gmail.com by Friday, March 30. Please direct any questions to the current Executive Committee at cac.hcpss@gmail.com.
