Board of Education Recognizes African Art Museum of Maryland with 2018 Friends of Education Award

March 28th, 2018

The Howard County Board of Education recognized the African Art Museum of Maryland with the Friends of Education Award at a reception on April 10.  An award presentation was at the Board meeting immediately following the reception.

The African Art Museum of Maryland located in Fulton, Maryland, has been involved with the students of the Howard County Public School System since 1980. The museum’s partnership with the school system, mentoring of HCPSS students, and African Experience Tour program affirms its goal to enhance students’ awareness of diverse cultures through the exploration of African Art.

The Friends of Education Award was established in 2001 to salute exemplary volunteer contributions of time and talent that directly support academic achievement and safe learning environments for the HCPSS.

A list of previous award winners can be found on the Board of Education website.
