HCPSS Acting Superintendent to Visit Clarksville Elementary School

June 5th, 2017

Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) Acting Superintendent Michael J. Martirano will take part in a discussion about leadership with gifted and talented (GT) fifth grade students at Clarksville Elementary School in Clarksville on Thursday, June 8, beginning at 11 a.m.

Background:

Fifth grade GT students explore leadership in a curriculum extension unit at Clarksville Elementary School. As part of the unit, students study different types and modes of leadership, and research different leaders for class presentations. During the Leadership Forum portion of the unit, students participate in a panel discussion with adult leaders in the community about leadership styles, influences and challenges. The leadership enrichment class is one of several curriculum extension units developed for all schools by the HCPSS Elementary Gifted and Talented program.
