Howard County High School Student Recognized as Presidential Scholar

Centennial High School senior Tingyu Li has been honored as a U.S. Presidential Scholar by the U.S. Department of Education. The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars recognized Li for her academic accomplishments, as well as essays, school evaluations and transcripts, and community service and leadership.

The 2017 U.S. Presidential Scholars include one young man and one young woman from each state, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, and from U.S. families living abroad. Fifteen students are chosen at-large, 20 students are selected as U.S. Presidential Scholars in the arts and 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars are chosen for career and technical education. There were a total of 161 students named in this class of 2017 U.S. Presidential Scholars.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program has honored almost 7,000 of the nation’s top-performing students with the prestigious award given to honorees during the annual ceremony in Washington, D.C. The 2017 ceremony will be held June 18. Each honoree will receive a Presidential Scholar Medallion.
