Transportation Safety is Top Priority
March 2nd, 2017

With approximately 40,000 Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) students riding 453 yellow school buses over 5.5 million miles this school year, transportation safety remains the number one priority.
HCPSS supports Maryland Highway Safety Office’s ADAPT (Aggressive Drivers Are Public Threats) campaign as part of its efforts to get Toward Zero Deaths. #ADAPTMD encourages drivers to avoid aggressive driving behaviors, including tailgating, speeding and improper lane changing.
Aggressive driving behaviors, specifically excessive speed, constitute some of the leading causes of crashes on Maryland’s roadways. Over the past five years, an average of 5,867 aggressive driving crashes have occurred annually in Maryland.
