Howard County Student to Perform in 2017 Rose Parade

Atholton High School senior Divya Singh has been selected by Music for All to be a member of the Bands of America Honor Band in the 2017 Tournament of Roses Parade. Singh was among students selected from hundreds of applicants across the nation for the prestigious honor.
The Bands of America (BOA) Honor Band is a 300-piece national ensemble with winds, percussion, and a flag and dance team. BOA is a program of Music for All (MFA), a national organization supporting active music making.
Singh, a piccolo player, will spend a week in Southern California for rehearsals, performances at the Tournament of Roses Bandfest and Disneyland, and special activities, culminating in a featured appearance in the Rose Parade. The 128th Rose Parade will take place on Monday, January 2, 2017, at 8 a.m. (PST), and will be broadcast to more than 200 international territories and countries.
MFA provides national educational programs that support instrumental music teachers at the high school and middle school levels, and delivers tools and resources to participants and their communities that support music education.
