HCPSS to Host First Ever Cultural Proficiency Conference
June 8th, 2016
On Wednesday, June 29 and Thursday, June 30, the Howard County Public School System will host a cultural proficiency conference. The theme of this first-of-its-kind conference is Student Voice—An Instrument for Inclusion and Equity.
The two-day conference for students and educators will include sessions designed to increase knowledge of cultural proficiency and student voice, communicate about inclusive and equitable practices and inspire action for inclusion, cultural competence and equity. More information about the conference is available online.
The HCPSS Cultural Proficiency Conference will bring together educators and stakeholders to discuss critical issues of diversity and excellence with equity. It is an opportunity to understand how Student Voice can help with school improvement, build inclusive environments and co-create schools that harness the power of students leading with teachers.
