Centennial Team in Contention for National Art Award

May 4th, 2016

A team of four talented student artists from Centennial High School has been named a semi-finalist in the 2016 Vans Custom Culture competition, and is now in contention to be a national finalist.

Vans sponsors the annual competition to inspire and empower high school students to embrace their creativity through art and design. Each school team used blank Vans shoes to create customized designs based on four themes: art, music, board sports, and local flavor.

The Centennial team was chosen as one of 10 semi-finalists selected to represent the North East region, and is one of just 50 teams chosen nationally from among 3,000 entries. Team members include Isa Hanssen, SungHye Ji, Tricia Park, and Hye Jun Yoo. All are members of the National Art Honor Society.

The public can view and vote for their favorite design through May 11 by visiting vans.com/customculture. The four teams with designs earning the most votes will take part in a final competition in Los Angeles next month. The winning team will receive a $50,000 grand prize for the school’s art program.
