Maryland Parent Involvement Matters Awards Call for Nominations
December 2nd, 2015
Applications are now being accepted for the 2016 Maryland State Department of Education’s Parent Involvement Matters Awards (PIMA). The awards recognize parents and guardians who have made significant contributions to public education that have led to improvements for Maryland’s public school children, teachers, schools, programs and/or policies.
Created to highlight parents who have demonstrated significant involvement through volunteering, collaboration and communication with school and system officials, the PIMA Awards honor the involvement of parents in the educational process and the role they hold in student success.
2016 Maryland Parent Involvement Matters Award nominees must be parents or legal guardians of children attending Maryland public schools, and cannot be employees of MSDE or a Maryland public school system. Twenty-four semifinalists will be selected, one parent from each of the 23 Maryland counties and one from Baltimore City. Five finalists and one statewide winner will be named at an award celebration planned for spring 2016.
Nomination forms are available for download at www.MarylandPublicSchools.org/pima.
The submission deadline has been extended to Friday, February 5, 2016.
