EYO Sports Partnership Provides Extra Care for Athletic Fields

The Howard County Public School System has partnered with the Elkridge Youth Organization to provide additional maintenance for community athletic fields and to promote recreation and sports as a healthy part of everyday life. The partnership will be formalized at an official signing on Friday, September 18, at the Sheraton Columbia Waterside Restaurant in Columbia, Maryland.

Members of the Elkridge Youth Organization (EYO Sports) will provide supplemental maintenance to 11 baseball and softball fields from April 1 to November 1 each year the agreement is in place, according to guidelines provided by HCPSS Grounds Services. EYO Sports will also collaborate with the school system to financially support sports and wellness initiatives. This partnership is aligned with Vision 2018 strategies to streamline central operations by optimizing efficiency and effectiveness, and facilitating collaboration.

Howard County Board of Education members Ann De Lacy and Christine O’Connor, HCPSS Chief Human Resource and Development Officer Helen Nixon and Assistant Manager Grounds Services Greg Connor will join EYO Sports President Chris Jakubek, Vice President Marc Crumback and Treasurer Andy Williams to sign the formal partnership agreement at the September 18 event.

Elkridge Youth Organization Sports is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that enriches the lives of youth by providing a nurturing environment in which to play organized sports.

The Howard County Public School System’s Partnerships Office unites businesses and community organizations with schools to enhance the educational experience. Partnerships benefit schools, businesses and the entire community by leveraging the resources of all participants. Partners may commit human or financial resources or other support.
