HCPSS Receives Department of Defense Award
October 3rd, 2014
HCPSS was recently honored by the U.S. Department of Defense for its support of employees serving in the Maryland Guard and Reserve.
Members of the HCPSS Building Services office received the award during a luncheon held last month at the Turf Valley Hotel in Ellicott City. The Maryland Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an office of the Department of Defense, recognized HCPSS for its support of active duty members through policies that provide flexibility for military leave, lost wages, and personal benefit continuation.
“The ESGR Above and Beyond Award publicly recognizes American employers that provide extraordinary patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Jean Hulet, Maryland ESGR state chair. “Supportive employers like Howard County Public Schools are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”
ESGR promotes cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers.
