Let’s Go HoCo! HCPSS to Host 5K and Fun Run on Oct. 12 (2014)
August 18th, 2014
Lace up your sneakers, the Howard County Public School System is gearing up to host Let’s Go HoCo, a 5K run/walk and 1 mile fun run at 8 a.m. on Sunday, October 12 in Columbia. The race is an initiative of HCPSS Superintendent Renee Foose, an avid runner herself.
“I am excited to bring together students, families, staff and Howard County community members to promote health and wellness,” Foose said. “We look forward to this becoming a yearly event.”
The race will include beginners, intermediate and professional level athletes. Participants will complete either a 3.1 mile walk/run or a 1 mile fun run. Both routes begin and end at the Sheraton Columbia Town Center. Course maps, event information and registration are available at www.hcpss5k.com.
One hundred percent of the race’s profits will go to the school system’s Pupil Personnel Worker Fund, providing assistance for children and families in need.
The HCPSS 5K is being managed by Rip It Events, with chip timing provided by Elite Race Management.
