Howard County Educators and Students Recognized by Maryland State Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented (G/T) Education

Three educators and two students will be honored for their contributions to the Howard County G/T Program by The Maryland State Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented (G/T) Education, at an evening recognition ceremony from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Kossiakoff Center.

Claire Hafets, Burleigh Manor Middle School Principal, will be recognized as an Outstanding Educator in Gifted and Talented Education, School Administrator, Kimberly Eubanks and Karen Saunderson, G/T Resource Teachers at Cradlerock Elementary and Oakland Mills Middle Schools respectively, will be honored as Outstanding Educators in Gifted and Talented Education, Teachers as Leaders.

Hannah Zhang, Dayton Oaks Elementary School, will be honored in the category of Student Accomplishment in Gifted and Talented Education.

Leon Chambers, a Long Reach High School senior, has been invited to speak about the original research that he is conducting at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory as part of the Howard County G/T Intern/Mentor Program.

The annual Maryland State Gifted and Talented Recognition Ceremony honors the Governor’s Proclamation of February 2013 as Gifted and Talented Education Month in Maryland and recognizes outstanding educators and students for their contributions to gifted and talented education in Maryland.
