Howard County Antique Farm Machinery Club Partnership Promotes Agricultural History

The Howard County Antique Farm Machinery Club, Living Farm Heritage Museum has partnered with the Howard County Public School System to provide hands-on opportunities for students to learn about Howard County’s agricultural history. 

The partnership will be formalized with an official signing Friday, November 14 at 8:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Columbia Waterside Restaurant, 10207 Wincopin Circle, Columbia, MD.

Under the terms of the partnership agreement, the Museum will collaborate with Elementary and Secondary Curriculum Offices to provide field trip opportunities and hands-on activities for students to learn about the settlement of Howard County, agricultural practices and native and invasive species and their environmental impact. 

Museum representatives also will conduct classroom presentations and provide information to HCPSS staff about the educational nature trails and outdoor space available at the Farm. In line with the Vision 2018 strategic plan, this partnership provides learning experiences that promote depth of knowledge.

HCPSS Deputy Superintendent Linda Wise, Elementary Science Coordinator Amy Reese, Elementary Social Studies Coordinator Kim Eggborn and Secondary Social Studies and Advanced Placement Coordinator Mark Stout will join Howard County Antique Farm Machinery Club, Living Farm Heritage Museum President John Frank and Events Coordinator Virginia Frank to sign the formal partnership agreement at the November 14 event.

The Howard County Antique Farm Machinery Club, Living Farm Heritage Museum works to preserve the agricultural heritage of the county by providing educational programs, displays and activities for all ages throughout the year.

The Howard County Public School System’s Partnerships Office unites businesses and community organizations with schools to enhance the educational experience. Partnerships benefit schools, businesses, and the entire community by leveraging the resources of all participants. Partners may commit human or financial resources or other support.
