November 13th, 2014

Several HCPSS educators were honored recently at state conferences for math and social studies teachers.

At last month’s Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics conference held in Baltimore, Phelps Luck Elementary School teacher Isaac Clark was honored for his work in early childhood math instruction, and Thomas Viaduct Middle School teacher Jorden Haney received an award for beginning mathematics instruction. HCPSS Instructional Facilitator for Elementary Mathematics John Sangiovanni was recognized as an outstanding mathematics educator.

Wendy Kanter, a 5th grade social studies teacher at Swansfield Elementary School, was named ‘Outstanding New Teacher of the Year’ by the Maryland Council for Social Studies Inc. during its annual conference held in Rockville, Md. last month. Kanter was one of four educators from districts throughout the state honored by the council for excellence in teaching or instructional leadership.
