Message from the Superintendent: Commemorating Veterans Day 2025

The following message was sent by Superintendent Bill Barnes to the HCPSS community on Nov. 11, 2025.

Today, Nov. 11, 2025, marks Veterans Day and serves as an important reminder of the selfless service demonstrated by the veterans who have dedicated their lives to protect our nation.

As we reflect on the values upheld by our veterans, we can also find ways in our own lives to live up to the example they set by leading with purpose in our schools and offices, and finding ways to serve others in our communities.

We know that in our schools and community, there are many active duty, guard, reserve, and veteran armed services members and their children, many of whom are students in our system. Our system is enhanced by the presence of veterans who have pursued a career in education and now work to serve our students and families.

I am grateful to these veterans and family members who have made sacrifices so we can enjoy our freedoms, and our students can strive for greatness.
