HCPSS Seeks Members for the Renaming of the Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL) Advisory and Implementation Committee

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) invites residents to take an active role in providing input for the renaming of the Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL). The ARL is an HCPSS facility that provides Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities for 13 CTE Career Academy Programs for juniors and seniors from all high schools. The ARL is also currently undergoing renovations that will result in the expansion of multiple programs. The perspectives and input shared by community stakeholders selected for participation with the Advisory and Implementation Committee that will guide the required renaming process is important to ensure transparency at every stage of the committee’s work.

HCPSS is currently seeking 1 -2 general resident candidates for membership on the “Renaming of the Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL) Advisory and Implementation Committee.”

This advisory committee will include 1-2 members representing the general resident stakeholder group. Members of this committee will attend three meetings to discuss and make recommendations to the Superintendent and Executive Staff regarding the renaming of the ARL, with a fourth meeting scheduled if necessary.

The Advisory Committee meeting dates are as follows:

• Monday, September 22: 5:30-7:30 PM – In-Person at ARL (10920 Clarksville Pike, Ellicott City, MD)
• Tuesday, October 11: 5:30-7:30 PM – In-person at ARL (10920 Clarksville Pike, Ellicott City, MD)
• Wednesday, October 22: 5:30-7:30 PM – In-person at ARL (10920 Clarksville Pike, Ellicott City, MD)
• Wednesday, October 29 (if needed): 5:30-7:30 PM – In-Person (10920 Clarksville Pike, Ellicott City, MD)

Advisory Committee members are expected to attend/participate in all committee meetings.

Residents interested in participating may submit this Application Form online by Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 3pm. A confirmation email with additional details will be sent to the individual(s) selected to participate on the committee on Friday, September 19.
