HCPSS Schools Honored as 2022 Maryland Green Schools
April 25th, 2022
This year, one Howard County public school, Howard High School, became newly certified as a Maryland Green School, by the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE).
Eleven HCPSS schools have recertified, six of these at the Sustainable level, including Atholton, Hollifield Station, Manor Woods, Northfield, Swansfield and Thunder Hill elementary schools.
Additionally, Triadelphia Ridge Elementary School recertified at the new Sustainable Bronze level with 20 years of sustainable school engagement.
HCPSS has a total of 50 schools participating in the Maryland Green Schools program. The program provides educational opportunities for pre-K-12 schools that promote responsible environmental stewardship practices and increase awareness of how our relationship with the environment ultimately impacts public health and society.
MAEOE and the Maryland Green School community will celebrate both virtually and in-person in May to recognize awardees.
