All HCPSS Outdoor Facilities to Reopen, Effective June 12, 2020
June 12th, 2020
Following the Howard County Government decision to open outdoor playgrounds, basketball and volleyball courts in the county, effective Friday, June 12, all HCPSS outdoor facilities will be open for public use.
HCPSS outdoor facilities were closed March 13 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tracks and tennis courts were reopened May 15 in response to Governor Hogan’s actions to ease stay-home restrictions. This most recent decision specifically impacts school basketball courts, playgrounds and playing fields.
HCPSS is not currently allowing the reserved use of our school facilities by organized groups. The continual uncertainty surrounding when and how schools will reopen requires that HCPSS ensure facilities will be immediately available for student use.
All users must maintain proper social distancing, as determined by county and state guidelines.
