Celebration of Excellence Honors African-American Students
April 14th, 2016
The Council of Elders of the Black Community of Howard County, in partnership with the Howard County Public School System, hosted their annual Celebration of Excellence event on April 13, 2016, at Hammond High School in Columbia.
The event recognized African-American high school students from throughout the school system who have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement. HCPSS Superintendent Renee A. Foose gave the keynote address at the April 13 event.
“I am very honored to be part of this celebration,” said HCPSS Superintendent Renee A. Foose. “Each year this event becomes more impressive, with a growing number of African-American students graduating among the highest ranks of their classes.”
The Council of Elders has collaborated with HCPSS for more than 15 years to support student achievement.
