New HCPSS Partnership Promotes Staff Health and Well-being

March 16th, 2016

The Howard County Public School System partnered with IO Workshop | Mélong Ling to promote activities that support mindfulness, meditation and wellness for staff and the school community. The partnership was formalized with an official signing on Friday, March 18 at IO Workshop | Mélong Ling, 6315 Hillside Court, Suite D, in Columbia.

Under the terms of the partnership agreement, Mélong Ling will provide meeting room facilities for school sponsored meetings or events and support school wellness events, field days and career days. Mélong Ling will also provide discounted yoga and mindfulness classes for HCPSS staff and offer volunteer opportunities for students. This partnership is aligned with Vision 2018 strategies to partner with community organizations to support staff members’ health and well-being.

Northfield Elementary School Principal Tiffany Tresler and Assistant Principal Colleen Golden joined IO Workshop | Mélong Ling Directors Joseph Murray Jr. and Valencia Wood and signed the formal partnership agreement at the March 18 event.

At Mélong Ling, mind, body and energy are equally examined through the Three Jewels Method, which focuses on motion, mindfulness and meditation. Mélong Ling is part of IO Workshop, a space dedicated to discovering the science of both yoga and engineering.
