February 19th, 2016
Howard High School Principal Nick Novak has been named the 2016 Maryland Outstanding Leader Using Technology by Maryland Society for Education Technology (MSET). Novak was recognized for demonstrating outstanding use of innovative and effective practices of educational technology.
Novak learned of his recognition today at a surprise announcement at his school. Board of Education Chairman Christine O’Connor, HCPSS Superintendent Renee A. Foose, Howard High School Assistant Principal Lynnette Moore, Board of Education Student Member and Howard High student Rachel Lin, Howard High School students, and members of Novak’s family were in attendance.
“Nick’s enthusiasm, passion and vision for the use of technology to enhance instruction give his students and staff invaluable resources that support quality learning,” said HCPSS Superintendent Renee A. Foose. “It is great to see him recognized by MSET with this well-deserved honor.”
The award recognizes an educator outside the classroom who has made exemplary contributions to the implementation of technology in Maryland schools. It supports MSET’s mission to advance excellence in learning and teaching through innovative and effective uses of technology.
Each year, MSET honors leaders and teachers for their outstanding use of innovative and effective practice of educational technology. Winners are recognized at the Common Ground Conference, April 28–29 in Ocean City, and are given opportunities to participate in business meetings, serve as keynote speakers and have their work highlighted.
