Le’Chic Academy Launches After-school Workshop at Forest Ridge Elementary School

In a new partnership, Forest Ridge Elementary School will collaborate with Le’Chic Academy Foundation to empower elementary students to be self-confident, cultivated and practical decision makers. The partnership was formalized with an official partnership signing on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Forest Ridge Elementary School, Laurel, Maryland.
Under the terms of the agreement, Le’Chic Academy will work with Forest Ridge Elementary School staff to conduct an after-school workshop series on magazine publishing. Students will have the opportunity to enhance creative writing, editing, interviewing and self-publishing skills, and will participate in team building and leadership projects. This partnership supports Vision 2018 strategies by providing authentic learning experiences that embed creativity, innovation and critical thinking into the instructional program.
Executive Director School Improvement and Administration Frank Eastham, Forest Ridge Elementary School Principal Genée Varlack, Assistant Principal Danielle Shanks and FRES staff members joined Le’Chic Academy Foundation Director Marlene Jackson to sign the formal partnership agreement at the February 17 event.
Le’Chic Academy Foundation is a non-profit, faith-based organization devoted to empowering young ladies of all faiths and nationalities. Their goal is to build young ladies’ self-esteem and help them make healthy, accountable and productive lifestyle choices.
The Howard County Public School System’s Partnerships Office unites businesses and community organizations with schools to enhance the educational experience. Partnerships benefit schools, businesses and the entire community by leveraging the resources of all participants. Partners may commit human or financial resources or other support.
