Food Taste Testing in Howard County High Schools
October 21st, 2015
Howard County Public School System Food and Nutrition Service is holding a series of food taste tests in schools during the 2015–2016 school year. These taste tests introduce new foods to students and provide students and members of the school community a voice in what is served at school meals.

HCPSS believes that food taste testing prior to adding foods to the daily menu encourages students to participate in the food and nutrition program, creates satisfied customers and reduces food waste. Once samples of the special menu items are tasted and evaluated, they are considered as future school lunch menu items. Students, teachers, administrators and parents are invited to join the taste testing in the school cafeteria.
The first series of food taste tests were held during lunch hours at Marriotts Ridge High School on October 27, Howard High School on October 28, and River Hill High School on October 29, 2015.
The food items to be taste tested are potato skins with chili and cheese filling, potato skins with barbeque chicken filling, and potato skins with buffalo chicken filling. Nutritional information can be found below.
