June 25 Update on Community Use of Facilities for Summer 2020

June 25th, 2020

UPDATED: June 30, 2020

Through the ongoing collaboration between the school system and the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, HCPSS will gradually reopen school facilities for school system and Howard County-sponsored programs during the summer, while continuing to ensure compliance with CDC and Health Department guidance. The gradual reopening schedule provides for maximum flexibility to assure facilities will be available for instructional use once school resumes in Fall 2020.

As previously announced, all HCPSS other outdoor facilities are open for public use, including school tracks, playgrounds, and tennis and basketball courts.

HCPSS is not currently allowing the reserved use of our school facilities by organized groups. The continual uncertainty surrounding when and how schools will reopen requires that HCPSS ensure facilities will be immediately available for student use. HCPSS will continue to reassess future options for community use of facilities, in conjunction with the ongoing planning for school reopening in the fall.

All users must maintain proper social distancing at all HCPSS facilities, as determined by county and state guidelines.
