International Parent Leadership Program Applications Due October 2, 2019

The International Parent Leadership Program (IPLP), which began in 2006, is designed to increase leadership capacity of international parents to step into leadership roles in schools and communities as advocates on behalf of the system’s more than 11,500 international students. This six-week program helps international parents understand the framework of the US educational system and the structure and functions of the Howard County Public School System.
This program has opened a venue for international parents to visit the Board of Education’s Central Office building as well as their own children’s school. Information shared during the sessions assists parents in making informed decisions about the schooling of their children and serves to increase the participation of parents from international communities in the life of schools and the school system.
The graduates of the program are serving on their respective PTA advisory committees and several found employment with the HCPSS.
Program sessions will be held from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on:
- Wednesday, October 16
- Wednesday, October 23
- Wednesday, October 30
- Wednesday, November 6
- Wednesday, November 13
- Wednesday, November 20
Participants are expected to attend all six sessions.
